Nutrition
The Martial arts practitioner has to support his body in very rational way in order to keep and improve its performances during the trainings. And one the most important things is correct nutrition. More of that, the spirit and intention of a warrior are heavily influenced by his body's condition.
Would the martial artist live on Taichi alone? The ascetic, who meditates and dances taichi only, probably would.
As a general rule, people who enjoy aggresive sprt and activities, usually have a high intake of animal protein, whereas those, who involved in a higher level of thought, require less food and certainly less animal products. This is a generalization and there are, of course, exceptions of the rule.
For instance, a woman is able to take in more bad food without it affecting their higher realms of thought because they are usually on a slightly higher spiritual plain than man.
How will one remains strong, eating only fruits? Go to the zoo and look at the gorilla. This strongest of all primates only eats fruits and leaves and has a wonderfully gentle nature; he can also climb up to a tree, pulling with one hand his huge weight. Everyone needs different foods and must find her/his own ideal within the basic guidelines.

Raw food
Many people say that their stomachs are unable to accept raw food. If food is cooked it is already pre-digested before it enters our stomach and then the digestive tract becomes weaker and weaker because it does not work as it has to.
Obviously if we pamper our digestive tract with overcooked food, a raw diet will be a little uncomfortable and even cause some sickness until our systems get used to digest the raw food again. This is one good reason not to change your diet radically all at ones. One should change his eating habits slowly, starting by adding more raw or lightly cooked food each week until he will be completely comfortable with this new "old" food.
Grains
If you must eat grains, wheat is the best one. Mahatma Gandhi tried to convince the Indian people to eat wheat instead of rice, which has high food value but cause to mucus creation.
Wheat should not be cooked, but should be leaved overnight in tepid water. In the morning the grains will become swollen and split open. Dressed with a little honey it will be wonderful breakfast. If you allow the wheat to sprout then most of the bad properties of wheat disappear! Sprouted wheat is a great food.
Mucus
The body should always be slightly alkaline and if we allow it to become acid then sickness occurs. The body always tries to maintain this alkaline side by taking alkaline substances from the rest of the body, like from calcium! So when you eat acid forming foods, your body is leaching calcium from your bones! Food can be either acid forming or acid binding; acid forming means that when digested the food becomes acid or mucus, acid binding means that while digesting the food binds itself to the mucus so it can be eliminated.
Take a ‘Green Drink’ every morning at least ½ liter made from celery, cuss lettuce, cucumber and broccoli. This will be a great start to the day as it presents your whole system with alkaline food.
There are two kinds of mucus — the one our mucus membrane produces is a free flowing slime which contains mucin and various body salts; the other comes from outside and is a poison.
Acid products do not remain acid during digesting — all fruit, even citrus fruit, becomes alkaline. This is why when we eat only fruit, the acid that has been stored in our bodies is now eliminated through our kidneys and so we feel sick — so don’t be too radical in the beginning or you might damage your kidneys. Other foods such as cheese and meat become acid on digestion, and therefore mucus is forming. All grains are mucus forming; sprouted seeds are not.
Protein
There is stereotype that we need copious amounts of protein to survive. Actually, the great deal of what we need we can get from plants. There is no need to overload the body with kilograms of meat and other protein-included products. Soy is good substitution for meat. The best choice is to have meat meal twice a week and the rest is plants (remember the gorilla above)and fish, plants&fish, – do not mix up with fries&fish.
Transition diet
People who used to eat junk food for some time need a transition diet so that the body systems will not suffer from sudden change of new food composition.
Fresh and raw fruits, vegetables should be added slowly to the daily menu, until the body will fill totally comfortable and healthy.
Products to be avoided
Meat
Our body systems can take meat once in a blue moon.
Dogs have very small intestinal tract and the food stays in there in about three hours. This is the time that it takes for the meat to go completely putrid, but by that time it passes through their entire digestive tract. When we eat meat it takes around 16 hours or more for the food to pass through our intestines. It means that the already digested, useless and in some cases toxic remains stays inside of our intestine for 13 hours.
Vegetables are digested during 20 hours and this time in needed to pass thought-out intestine and this is in the end quite harmless.
Dairy productst
There are opinions that adults need no dairy produce at all. The lactase has not been produced from age of 2, the ability to digest milk is greatly reduced. Milk is for babies.
Butter - one tablespoon of butter (14 grams/0.5 ounces) contains 420 kilojoules (100 kcal), 11 grams (0.4 oz) of fat, of which 7 grams (0.25 oz) are saturated fat, and 30 milligrams (0.46 gr) of cholesterol. In other words, butter consists mostly of saturated fat and is a significant source of dietary cholesterol. For these reasons, butter has been generally considered to be a contributor to health problems, especially heart disease. More of that, butter was originally used to stop the spread of diseases, it was a medicine, as was peanut butter, and could only be bought from a chemist or pharmacist.
Cheese is one of the most detrimental products and causes the body to grind to a halt.
Peanuts and rhubarb
Peanuts are not nuts at all, and rhubarb is not an very usefull herb - only the stalk is used. Both contain oxalic acid, which attacks the kidneys and liver.
Sugar
Don't ! Just don't touch it and don't eat it. Not white, not brown not black.
Salt
See about sugar.
The body is a wonderful factory but it needs constant maintenance. If we put the good stuff inside, it will never let us down, but if we abuse with bad food then we must be ready to bear the consequences. If we combine all that nature has given us; we will eventually get back to just being "PEOPLE" again. Start with the food and you are half way there.
