  • RUSSIAN STYLE
Last years there are more and more conversations and disputes about so-called Russian martial style. Ones extol its almost mythical efficiency, others, running into other extreme measure, assert that Russians never had and could not have any fighting schools, except of some manner to fight in villages and families. Up to second half of 80-s there was no term "Russian style". It has been introduced later. Kadochnikov named his system as fighting "sambo"-wrestling and allocated thus two more schools - semi fighting and sport "sambo"-wrestling. Having had training preparation in special divisions of fleet as the fighting swimmer, Kadochnikov collected material on its basis he has created his martial system and the school known nowadays as "style of Kadochnikov". During the post-revolutionary period many enthusiasts were engaged in revival of Russian fighting systems, but the greatest popularity had Oznobishin's and Spiridonov's schools, based on the hand-to-hand fight system, accepted in Russian army. This thesis is quite often challenged but it becomes much comprehensive taking into consideration special character of historical period. The carriers of the system were Russian officers and consequently it is not surprising they have chosen the former officers as instructors. By the way, among instructors of well-known "green berets" it is very likely to find out Russian surnames, moreover, in textbooks about USA army combat training, in section "Hand-to-hand fight", there are drawings and explanations taken from an old manuals accepted in Imperial army, referencing surprisingly to primary sources. Turning over the pages of military art history you are becoming convinced that in Russian army it has been given special attention to hand-to-hand fight. Many armies across the world were able to testify about efficiency Russian hand-to-hand battle. Suvorov's aphorism "a bullet is fool, a bayonet is attaboy" gets expression and a special value, in this special context. In essence, stroking techniques of the system are much various. As to painful receptions and throws, they are only elements, intended to manage the opponent. There is also soft rotating blocking technique. The "soft" blocking allows to lash beating arms or legs and by that not only to use kinetic energy of a beating hand of the opponent, but also on its blow to enter into a defeat zone. As to techniques of effective low kicks, it is much more effectively "to process" the not protected by a muscular layer shin or joints of the opponent. And in general, there is no necessity to beat above a belt because the problem of defeat an attacker resolves much easier. As already it was mentioned above, an essence of hand-to-hand fight techniques is the management doctrine - you should control the situation and be able to manage the opponent. For this purpose the refined techniques of captures clearing and body weight control I used. Combination of "soft" rotating blocks and opponent management system, leads to effect of a "drawing" and "switching", allows bending around blocks using points of contact as rotation points, and as result, very effective defense against any kind of threat. Directions of blows also are not casual; they are entered in the general logic of work, influencing weak and painful points of the opponent. Perhaps, such refinement for the system applying on army, will seem a little excessive, but at performance of a fighting the problem is that you can appear in such conditions at which not that a foot to strike - a hand hardly will lift. Work should be spent not at any cost, and by the least efforts and time loss. Fight is conducted at once on defeat of the enemy (there is no boxing) that is provided with variety of preventive measures. As to training process it also differs from the standard. Trainings pass in quiet, slow rate, without pressure (the relaxation is important), in third of force. The basic criterion for correctness of technical action performance is its carrying out without the expressed sensation of resistance of the partner, so-called "failing effect". Unlike other systems, separate "reception" or group of the "receptions", completed by uncountable repetitions on trainings to automatism, are not in use. It's talked about work of the body which has been "adjusted" on movements of the opponent. You do not crack defense by powerful blows, but harmoniously interweave into the movements, as though helping them, leading up them to the point of irrationality. You do not strike blow with an advancing (the opponent is faster than you), and bring him under your own blows. And frequently there is no necessity to strike blow - opponent on his own inertia is injured by obligingly substituted shock parts of your body and surrounding subjects. As a matter of fact what the sportsman during tournament fights intuitively reaches by himself, here is used as a base on which all training process is built. Certainly, A.A.Kadochnikov's system is not intended for the mass consumer, but its separate sections can be adapted for local problems.
